Now, to backtrack, the most obvious answer to that question would be: HALLO? Are you kidding ? – OF COURSE I would like to have BLANKbottle in Woolworths!?! But it’s not that simple to me (yes, I ACTUALLY didn’t say yes right away!) I had some serious thinking to do – it was never my intention to stock BLANKbottle in any wine shop or restaurant. I only wanted to sell straight to you, the consumer. But I realized that this would ultimately connect me with even more people, which is, as you well know by now, my passion. So my answer was yes ( not realizing at the time that there are wineries who lobby for years to have the same priviledge!)
Woolworths has launched a new wine section called HANDS ON WINE – its mission being to identify the, so to speak, “Rock stars of the wine industry” – winemakers with a fresh, unique edge to winemaking.
So today is the official release of my two new wines in Woolworths: BLANKbottle The BOSS Shiraz/Zinfandel and BLANKbottle ALEXA Chenin blanc/Viognier 2009. These batches of wine are exclusive to WOOLWORTHS. You will not be able to buy them on my website. At the same time, none of the wines I release or sell on my website will be available through Woolworths. And you can be sure of my continued commitment to provide you with interesting wines on my website, as that is, and will always be, the heart of BLANKbottle.
Hands on Wine asked me to again produce short films for the wines. For a sneak preview you can watch the 2 short films we produced on my website or on YouTube. So please buy a bottle in Woolworths, watch the films, and send me your feedback. I’ll be selecting three random names from the feedback, who will each get a mixed case of BLANKbottle wines delivered to their door.
